Michigan Daily Viewpoint

Freshman year I decided to join a learning community at the University of Michigan. I specifically picked the Michigan Community Scholars Program (MCSP) for its emphasis on community service, social justice and student bonding. I loved the program and returned sophomore year as a Peer Mentor Student Leader, and also co-led the Education Policy Action Team.
Towards the end of sophomore year, MCSP received news that it would no longer be permitted to return to its newly renovated home in the fall and that it would be required to act alongside the Residential College within East Quad. MCSP was not made part of this decision. It was within these mixed emotions that I wrote an editorial piece for the Michigan Daily, which was published only a few days after the decision went public.
