Slavic 312
I specifically enrolled in this course because it fulfilled the requirement for an Upper Level Writing Course outside of my concentration. This is the final paper that I wrote for the class, reaching just under 10 pages. I wrote this paper one year ago and I've found it slightly embarrassing to look back on my writing style. There are several paragraphs that reach a page long; now this is no longer acceptable but I guess at the time I just wasn't thinking. My writing isn't horrible, but I'm surprised that I still wrote this way during my junior year.
This paper is about ethnic violence in Eastern Europe and how it allows for the separation of many cultures, such as Bosnian Muslims, Serbians, Albanian Moslems and Macedonians. The course focused on using films and articles to create arguments and to analyze my thesis, which was important in developing my strong, supportive writing tone, even if some of my writing style was still unprofessional.
